Help us celebrate 10 years of Learning from Place!

Whether you are new to the Academy or were there at the start, we would love to share this milestone with you at our 10th Birthday bash. This convivial event will include entertainment, festive food, fantastic views of the Thames and – of course – friends and colleagues both old and new from across the world of urbanism.

Entertainment by the Academy’s poet-in-residence Ian McMillan

Throughout the evening, 10th Anniversary Party guests will have the opportunity to capture memories thanks to Showtime Photo Booth. Armed with a box of wacky props and a helpful attendant, the ‘Selfie Pod‘ will provide guests with unlimited fun and double prints to savour the moment well into the future… of urbanism!

If you don’t get the hard-copy print, the Academy will share all the shots taken with the nifty USB stick – a digital memory that can never be erased… so be sure to smile!

We would like to thank Showtime Photo Booth for their generosity in supporting this exciting event and capturing this special moment for The Academy of Urbanism and all its guests.

This is a stand-alone event, so even if you can’t make it to Congress, come along and share a drink with us!

Urbanism at Trinity Buoy Wharf

In 1998, Trinity Buoy Wharf was an empty, derelict site. Now it is a thriving centre for the arts and creative industries with a rare community of over 500 like minded people enjoying the unique riverside location.

Free from overdevelopment, the site’s fascinating history can still be seen in the buildings, installations and residents such as the Lightship LV95 that is moored here.

With careful regeneration, Trinity Buoy Wharf has kept its character whilst offering amenities such as studio and gallery space, a pier, boat club, school, rehearsal rooms and two dining options in the form of Bow Creek Café and Fat Boys all American diner and four of the hugely sustainable Container City buildings.
